GIS Day

Every year, Hopeworks celebrates "GIS Day" with the Church of the Advocate after-school program and the Cartographic Modeling Lab at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Hopeworks trainees teach the Philadelphia youth from the Church of the Advocate introductory GIS skills and then each pair creates and presents a custom designed map of their neighborhood. The Hopeworks trainees also tour the campus of the university and are shown some of the advanced GIS projects that the CML has created. It is a rewarding day for all.
